Guide to a Successful Housewarming Party

October 29, 2019 John Kynor Leave a Comment

Buying a house is so exciting. It’s a real sign of independence and growth in a person’s life. Once you’ve signed all the official paperwork and completed the realty process, the real fun can begin. The best part of moving into a new home is throwing a bash to celebrate. This guide to a successful housewarming party will help you settle into your new home in the best way possible.

Set the Invite List

One of the most important things to do when you’re hosting a housewarming party is to make an invite list. A housewarming is a joyous occasion—make sure to invite people who will have a good time and enhance the party atmosphere. Inviting your new neighbors is also a good idea—it’s a great way to get to know them and learn all the ins and outs of your new neighborhood.

Keep the Drinks Flowing

A housewarming party is supposed to be a fun, casual event. One way to make sure everyone is having a good time is to set up a bar and provide guests with cocktails. If your party is on a weekend, chances are that guests will want to relax with an adult beverage. Be creative with your alcohol choices and show off your skills as a mixologist. You can also impress your guests by using cool and stylish drinkware.

Make it an Open House

Make your housewarming party more like an open house: don’t set a specific start and end time. Rather, allow people to come and go as they please. This type of atmosphere will make things more casual and allow more people to come, since there won’t be such a constricting time frame. Don’t be afraid to let people take a tour of your home, too. Allow people to see what they’re celebrating!

Decorate

No one expects your house to be fully decorated the minute you move in. However, if you’re planning on throwing a housewarming party, it’s a good idea to put out some decorations so that the house doesn’t look as bare. Think about hanging some photos before people arrive so that they can get a better sense of your personality. Buy some balloons and flowers as well for an extra bold touch.

Play Music

Nothing is worse than being at a party where no one is talking. To avoid those dull moments of silence, make a housewarming party playlist. That way, if things do get quiet every now and then, at least some tunes will be playing in the background. Select universally beloved songs that will get people up and moving—a little throwback action never hurt anyone.

Follow this guide to a successful housewarming party to make sure your celebration goes off without a hitch. A great housewarming party is an awesome opportunity to start making memories in your new home. Above all else, remember to have fun and be excited about what the future has in store.
