Sales of single-family homes in the Albuquerque area reached their strongest level in seven years.
The Greater Albuquerque Association of Realtors reported Thursday that there were 769 sales last month, a 17.8 percent increase compared to one year ago.
The average sales price in September was $212,307, a 4.6 percent increase over September 2012. The median sales price rose 3.2 percent to $177,500. Sales of homes in price ranges above $250,000 increased 22 percent compared to one year ago.
“We have had steady improvement in the housing market over the past four years,” Julie Greenwood, GAAR president, said in a statement.
Greenwood cautioned, however, that the government shutdown could affect home sales in the coming months.
